From the Calabash Presbyterian Church Pastor

Jack Patrick

It is such a blessing to be where Jesus plants you for service. During these past two weeks I have had the joy of meeting wonderful brothers and sisters in the Lord. This Church is a treasure waiting to be found by those searching for a warm, friendly church home.

Let me share with you my goals as a pastor.

Christianity is more a relationship than it is a religion. I mean that Jesus is more concerned about our relationship with Him and with others than He is with the tools of religion. I feel that one of the most important goals of a pastor is to enhance the relationship of individuals to their Lord Jesus Christ, as well as with one another. Jesus wants us to trust Him and follow Him. To me, that means as Christians we must learn how to be more effective lovers. My definition of love is selflessness, giving yourself away. That is what Jesus did and that is what He calls us to do. He first loved us, and we must love Him back if we truly have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior. As individuals and as a corporate body of Christ, our attitude must be one of progressively committing ourselves to the will of our Lord and God.

My role as pastor is to love you and serve you, so that all of us together may move in that direction. I see the role of pastor as a servant, and I would very much like to serve you by being with you, working with you, laughing with you, and, especially, worshipping with you. May all of you come to know the joy of being in love with Jesus.
