WORSHIP COMMITTEE
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday,
February 6th. Instead of "giving up"
something for Lent, why not take a positive
approach and try to do a "random act of
kindness" each day. Telephone a homebound
person; offer to drive a senior citizen to a
doctor appointment or food shopping; offer to
give a caretaker some "time off" by sitting or
visiting. Sometimes a simple smile and
hello to a stranger may brighten their day.
Be creative in ways that you can spread kindness
to all of God's children.
While Rev. Patrick is on his
study leave to Brazil, Dr. David Jenkins will fill
the pulpit on February 3 and 10. Holy
Communion will be offered on February 10.
Our CLPs - Peg Stinnett and Keith Warner - will
be available for pastoral care in Jack's
absence.
Sue Compton is once again
creating a Maundy Thursday worship
service. Holy Communion will be served during
this service. The choirs will participate
along with members of the congregation.
Mark March 20th on your calendar now so you
won't miss out on this moving experience.
After
several years of securing elders to help serve
communion, Mervine Moore regretfully resigned
from that position. If you would like to
take over this aspect of the Worship Committee,
please give me a call at 579-0353.
Requirements are you must like to talk to
people, either in person, or by telephone and
attend the committee meeting once a month.
We have a list of all elders in CPC which makes
the task simpler.
We would always welcome
at-large members on the Worship Committee.
We meet at 3 PM on the third Tuesday of each
month. Being a member of the committee
does not necessarily mean you will be assigned a
specific task. It's good to hear different
points of view.
